Two of America’s most popular singer-songwriters come together for one amazing evening! By combining folk, country, acoustic, rock and blues, five-time Grammy Award winner Mary Chapin Carpenter has proven herself to be an artist for whom the conventional boundaries of the music business disappear. Born in Princeton, N.J., Carpenter got her start in the Washington, D.C. music scene and eventually signed with Columbia Records, where she spent nearly 20 years and sold more than 13 million albums. Her most recent release is 2010’s acclaimed The Age of Miracles, which earned Carpenter her 15th Grammy nomination, this time in the Best Contemporary Folk Album category.

After electrifying the Musikfest Cafe in October, this Nashville-based ensemble is back for another evening of sensational sounds! Here Come the Mummies is a funk, R&B and soul band known for its awesome costumes (yes, they dress like mummies) and funky beats, delighting audiences from coast to coast. The group’s single, "Dirty Minds," was featured in the Sony Pictures movie Fired Up.

A member of the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, Kenny Vance was a founding member of Jay and The Americans, the 1960s pop group that produced hits such as “Cara Mia” and “Come a Little Bit Closer.” Vance went on to compose, supervise and produce a long list of scores and soundtracks for feature films and television. He gave musical life to American Hot Wax, the definitive big screen story of pioneering rock ‘n’ roll DJ Alan Freed. The Planotones were formed as a fictional group specifically for the movie, and were reformed 14 years later, jumping from the movies to the world’s concert stages with an illustrious career that has been going strong since 1992.

Marrakesh Express excels at reproducing Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's complex songs and cascading, layered harmonies, taking the audience back to the late 1960s with youthful musicians who bring an authentic hippie vibe and visual to the stage. The group upholds the integrity of CSNY’s music with its vivid and realistic performance of CSNY’s most recognizable songs. Featuring four harmonizing vocalists backed by a top-flight band, Marrakesh Express delivers a unique and energetic concert performing classic CSNY hits, deep cuts and fan favorites.

The Ryan Montbleau Band has been tending its own musical vineyard for a few years, on the patient cusp of a breakthrough. Its distinctive, long-fermenting blend of neo-folk, classic soul and kick-out-the-jams Americana finally comes to full fruition in Heavy on the Vine, its 2010 release that represents the product of — and further promise of — a very good year.

It’s a sizzling night of music and dancing as ArtsQuest kicks off its monthly Salsa Night series featuring Bethlehem’s very own Hector Rosado. With three vocalists, an expansive percussion section, bass, piano and a dominating horn section, Hector Rosado y su Orchestra produce a full sound. The orchestra specializes in rumba, merengue, Latin jazz and salsa and has shared the stage with a wide range of artists including David Byrne and the Talking Heads, Edgardo Cintron y Tiempo Noventa and Foto Rodriguez.

High school jazz groups from New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania will square off this winter at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem during the first-ever SteelStacks High School Jazz Band Showcase, with the winner of the competition earning the opportunity to open for Preservation Hall Jazz Band May 12 during the RiverJazz Festival presented by Concannon Miller jazz series.
