Known for its unique style and its blending of many musical influences, CAKE got its start in the Sacramento, California area in the early 90s, releasing its debut recording, Motorcade of Generosity, in 1994.  Among the groups many crowd pleasing hits are Short Skirt/Long Jacket, The Distance, Never There, Love You Madly and No Phone. Its most recent release, 2011s Showroom of Compassion, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and included the Top 5 single Sick of You.

Formed in Issaquah, Wash., in 1993, Modest Mouse has become the standard for indie rock over the past decade. After its 2004 release, Good News For People Who Love Bad News, which included the hit "Float On," the group released We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 in March 2007.

Since their platinum-selling, self-titled debut recording in 1982, Duran Duran has sold more than 100 million records around the globe. The group has produced numerous hits including "New Moon on Monday," "The Reflex," "Girls on Film," "Ordinary World," "Come Undone," "Hungry Like a Wolf" and "Rio." In 1983, the band captured two GRAMMY Awards, one for Best Video Album for Duran Duran, and a second for Best Short Form Video for "Girls on Film/Hungry Like a Wolf."

The Flaming Lips

Formed in Norman, Okla., in 1983, The Flaming Lips are known for their elaborate live shows, which feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections, complex stage light configurations, giant hands, large amounts of confetti and frontman Wayne Coyne's signature man-sized plastic bubble, in which he traverses the audience.
In 1993, the group scored a Top 10 hit with She Don't Use Jelly," and in 2002 Q magazine named it one of the 50 Bands to See Before You Die.

Culture Club

Winners of a 1984 GRAMMY Award for Best New Artist, Culture Club had a string of Top 10 hits in the 1980s starting with international smash "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me." Led by their charismatic lead singer, Boy George, the group became one of the most popular acts of the decade, with hits such as "I'll Tumble 4 Ya," "It's a Miracle," "Time (Clock of the Heart)" and "Karma Chameleon." Later this year, the band will release "Tribes," its first new album since 1999's "Don't Mind If I Do," which featured the hit "I Just Wanna Be Loved."

Known for its dynamic live shows and extensive touring, O.A.R. formed in 1996 and released its debut recording, The Wanderer, the following year. The groups 2005 album, Stories of a Stranger, featured the single "Love and Memories" and helped lead the band to mainstream success. Its follow-up recording, 2008s, All Sides, made the Top 5 of the U.S. alternative and rock charts and included the smash hit "Shattered."

Darius Rucker will bring his dynamic blend of country hits and Hootie & the Blowfish classics to Musikfest when he headlines the festival on August 14th. The performance will also feature country singer and former 'The Voice' winner Cassadee Pope.
Darius has released three chart-topping country albums, as well as a successful holiday album featuring original songs and Christmas classics. His 2013 release, True Believers, featured the No. 1 smash Wagon Wheel, which went on to earn Rucker a GRAMMY in the category of Best Country Solo Performance.

Originally consisting of vocalist Layne Staley, guitarist Jerry Cantrell, bassist Mike Starr and drummer Season Kenney, Alice in Chains formed in the mid-1980s in Seattle, Wash. The groups debut album, 1990s Facelift, helped transition fans of heavy metal into the Seattle alternative grunge scene, and the band continued to record and tour into the mid-90s, earning nominations from The American Music Awards, GRAMMY Awards and MTV Music Video Awards. In 1994 it released Jar of Flies, which quickly topped the Billboard 200, making it the first EP in history to reach the peak of the album charts.
